Drs. Byerly and Yukawa's Abstract Has Been Accepted for Oral Presentation at the AGS Annual Meeting

The abstract entitled “Development of an interprofessional skilled nursing facility based geriatrics elective” by Laura Byerly, MD and Michi Yukawa, MD, MPH was accepted for oral presentation during the Teachers Methods and Materials Swap at the American Geriatric Society Annual Meeting in May 2017. They describe the redesign and revision of the UCSF Geriatric Medicine elective, which now allows fourth year medical, pharmacy, and physical therapy students to collaboratively care for veterans at the SFVAMC Community Living Center. Interprofessional student teams evaluate patients and present their findings and recommendations during weekly interdisciplinary team meetings and Fall Focus rounds. Feedback from the IP students has been overwhelmingly positive. They enjoy both learning from, and teaching, each other during real patient encounters.
