  Dr. Rivera awarded a UCP Grant!
May 09, 2014 Josette Rivera MD was awarded a University Community Partnerships (UCP) Grant from the UCP Office in collaboration with the Program for the Aging Century. Dr. Rivera will partner with the incoming geriatrics clinical fellows and the community organization Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly to develop and implement a curriculum on a variety of geriatrics issues for volunteers and staff.

May 09, 2014 The screening features A Space Between, a documentary that examines the impact of poverty on healthcare in Kenya through the scope of dying with dignity at the Living Room hospice. Immediately following will be a Q&A panel discussion with Kimberly Nunez-North (producer/director), Travis North (director), BJ Miller, MD (Executive Director of Zen Hospice Project), Claire Veseley, RN (Palliative Care Coordinator at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland), Mark Gonzales, MD (Kaiser Napa/Solano Palliative Care Service), David Tarus (Living Room Board Chairman) and Marcia Glass, MD (UCSF Palliative Care Attending Physician and member of UCSF Hospitalists Global Health Corps). Wednesday May 28, Cole Hall, 6PM. Doors open at 5:30PM. Hosted reception to follow.

  Drs. Carolyn Welty and Helen Kao Appointed as Adjunct Professors of Law
May 09, 2014 Drs. Welty and Kao were recently appointed as Adjunct Professors of Law at UC Hastings for all the amazing work they have done for the Medical-Legal Partnership for Seniors as medical directors--a partnership between UC Hastings and the UCSF Center for Geriatric Care.

May 12, 2014 Christine Ritchie has been selected as a distinguished panelist for the 2014 UCSF DOM quality and safety symposium.

  Ryan McMahan was awarded the WINGS Grant Award!
May 16, 2014 Ryan McMahan, research coordinator for Dr. Rebecca Sudore's VA PREPARE Study, was awarded an employee development grant through the UCSF WINGS program ( The WINGS program provides financial assistance for the professional and career development of UCSF staff. This is Ryan's 3rd award through the program.
