Mar 21, 2016 John Newman, MD, PhD and Michael Steinman, MD published a letter to the editor in JAMA in response to a recent study on dextromethorphan-quinidine for agitation in dementia. The letter raised concerns about the possible increased rate of falls reported for patients on the treatment, and also about the use of proprietary, patented study designs in academic research.
