Residents
The faculty in the Division of Geriatrics is committed to educating the next generation of physicians to care for the growing number of older adults. Our aim is to produce physicians competent in caring for older adults and physician-leaders with the capacity to redesign health care to address the needs of older adults.
Our Goal
Using the Internal Medicine/Family Medicine Core Competencies in Geriatrics as a framework, we have created geriatrics training via didactics, elective outpatient and inpatient experiences, and longitudinal outpatient electives. Our goal is to graduate physicians who are well prepared to care for our aging population. Within resident education, our current Division priority is to focus on Internal Medicine residents, specifically primary care residents as these are the physicians who are most likely to be the primary physician for the aging population. We are constantly striving to strengthen our educational efforts and hope to expand to other resident groups.
