Bay Area Older Adult Community Resource of the Week – The Institute on Aging’s Friendship Line

This week’s Geri Community Resource is: The Institute on Aging’s Friendship Line.

The Institute on Aging’s Friendship Line is the nations only accredited 24-hour toll-free crisis line specifically for adults aged 60+ and individuals living with disabilities. It offers both urgent crisis intervention and non-urgent emotional support.

In addition to receiving calls, the Friendship Line conducts regular outreach to help monitor callers' physical and mental well-being. Services include: Active suicide intervention, Emotional support and grief counseling, Elder abuse prevention and guidance, Well-being checks, and Information and referrals for isolated individuals.
