Bay Area Older Adult Community Resource of the Week – Vouchers 4 Veggies program
This week’s Geri Community Resource is: UCSF's Vouchers 4 Veggies Program.
UCSF's Vouchers 4 Veggies Program is a San Francisco–born program that began when UCSF physician Hilary Seligman, MD, MAS, recognized that many of her patients needed access to healthy food more than another prescription. By partnering with local clinics, community organizations, the City’s Human Services Agency, and neighborhood grocers like Mi Tierra Market, V4V provides produce vouchers that make fresh fruits and vegetables more affordable and accessible. Now more than a decade strong, with 50+ partner locations citywide, V4V strengthens community health while supporting local businesses — bringing local food and local care together.
