Congratulations to John Boscardin, PhD, on His Role in the $1.57 Million AVERT Study

Congratulations to John Boscardin, PhD who is a Biostatistician Consultant on the AVERT Study (Autonomous Vehicles’ Effect on Reducing Trauma). Supported by a $1.57 million award over 18 months by Waymo LLC, this collaboration led by the UCSF HOPE Lab in the Division of Hospital Medicine at ZSFG (PI Makam), will leverage San Francisco's unique single-trauma-center system to rigorously evaluate whether adoption of autonomous vehicles is associated with reductions in MVC-related trauma care, a major public health issue for older adults, generating evidence to inform transportation safety and policy.
