Lauren Hunt and colleagues publish article in the JPSM

Lauren Hunt, PhD, RN, FNP, Siqi Gan, MPH, Alex Smith, MD, MPH, MS, Melissa Aldridge, PhD, John Boscardin, PhD, Krista Harrison, PhD, Jen James, PhD, MS, MSW, Alexandra Lee, PhD, MSPH, and Kristine Yaffe, MD published an article entitled “Hospice Quality, Race, and Disenrollment in Hospice Enrollees with Dementia” in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management. Their findings indicated that the racial disparities in disenrollment for people with dementia may be due in part to sorting of racial and ethnic minoritized groups into lower quality hospices—which tend to have higher disenrollment rates—but also that disparities in disenrollment persist within both low- and high-quality hospices.
