Now Accepting Applications: 2026–2027 Emerging Leaders in Aging Program

Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 – 2027 Emerging Leaders in Aging (ELIA) Program, a collaboration between AGS and Tideswell at University of California, San Francisco. The program benefits health care professionals, generally 4-10 years out from training, who are embarking on a relatively new leadership endeavor with challenges that involve leading others and leading change to improve the health and lives of older adults. Past scholars are interprofessional, and lead clinical, research, or educational programs.  We welcome applications from health professionals including, but not limited to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, and non-clinicians with evidence of training or experience in aging. An academic affiliation is not required. We are looking for emerging leaders committed to improving healthcare access, quality, and outcomes for older adults and their caregivers.

The program, designed to enhance and leverage existing leadership skills, consists of activities from September to May, with the anticipation that the community of scholars from all cohorts will remain meaningful colleagues throughout their careers.

Program components:

• A three-day workshop (Fall 2026, Exact date and location TBD)

• Six monthly 1-hour small-group videoconferences with senior advisors and including independent readings and assignments;

• Completion of a Leadership Practicum with mentorship from program advisors and a local institution mentor selected by the applicant;

• A two-day workshop (May 17-18, 2027) that includes a presentation of your Practicum to AGS leaders (Meeting in Atlanta prior to the AGS Meeting)

• Visit our website to learn more.

Special thanks to the Tideswell community of supporters who have made the 2026-2027 cohort possible, particularly AGS, the University of Rochester, University of North Carolina, University of California, San Francisco, and Tideswell alumni.
