Thiago Avelino-Silva Publishes New Study on Predicting Adverse Outcomes in Geriatric Emergency Care

Thiago Avelino-Silva, MD, PhD, published a new manuscript, “Clinical and Care Coordination Predictors of Adverse Outcomes in a Geriatric Emergency Department,” on the Geriatric Emergency Department he helped create in Brazil. The study, conducted in the Southern Hemisphere’s only Geriatric ED accredited by the American College of Emergency Physicians, showed that brief measures of frailty, delirium, and overall vulnerability can help identify older adults at increased risk for hospital admission and prolonged hospital stay.
