Victoria Tang Receives NIMH R01 Funding to Study Post-Operative Depression in Older Adults

Victoria Tang, MD, MAS has received R01 funding from the National Institute on Mental Health (NIMH) for her study, "New-onset Depression in Older Surgical Patients: Risk Factors, Mechanisms, and Outcomes." Along with co-investigators Kenneth Covinsky, MD, MPH, Amy Byers, PhD, MPH, and John Boscardin, PhD, Dr. Tang will develop the evidence necessary to advance and expand our understanding of geriatric post-operative morbidity related to mental well-being. The study will provide the evidence necessary for guideline development and targets for intervention and prevention efforts that will mitigate new-onset post-operative depression and its sequelae in older adults.
