This leadership role is responsible for the clinical and educational programs of the SFVAHCS GPEC service line.
Applicants for this ACOS position must have leadership experience in career development and in promoting an environment that fosters high morale and career satisfaction for faculty and staff, as well as proven experience in the clinical administration of Geriatrics programs. Candidates should be Associate Professor or above in rank, ABIM certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics or ABFM certified in Family Medicine and Geriatrics, and have demonstrated competence in the practice and teaching of clinical geriatrics. Experience working within the VA health care system is preferred.
This is a 1.0 VA FTE position, which includes 0.8 FTE for administrative activities and 0.2 FTE for clinical and teaching activities. The ACOS will have dual appointments: an academic appointment with UCSF and an appointment with SFVAHCS. The ACOS will report directly to the Chief of Staff of SFVAHCS for VA matters and to the Chief, UCSF Division of Geriatrics for academic matters. The ACOS will be an integral part of the Division of Geriatrics and its leadership team and will participate fully in its academic programs, including education and mentoring.
