Welcome Anna Hines!

Please join us in welcoming Anna Hines FNP-C, MPH, Age-Friendly Emergency Department (AFED) Nurse Practitioner, to the Division of Geriatrics! 

The UCSF Emergency Department, in partnership with the Division of Geriatrics, operates an Age-Friendly Emergency Department Program (AFED).  AFED’s mission is to ensure a patient-valued older adult emergency department experience through high quality resource optimization, community relationships, diversity of engaged health professionals, respecting the patient desire to attain their desired level of independence and function.  Anna will be joining Camie and Journey who started last October to support the AFED consult service and working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of pharmacists, ED providers, geriatricians, social workers, community-based providers, and other interdisciplinary professionals and services to create an optimal discharge or ongoing plan of care for our patients.

Anna holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American and Latino Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She also earned a Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Program from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and School of Nursing.  Anna brings nine years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner in safety-net primary care settings, as well as supervisory experience as a Care Team Clinical Supervisor.  Most recently, Anna worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Family Health Center at Zuckerberg San Francisco General, where she provided primary care for a panel of medically complex patients and served as Pain Squad Lead Clinician with focus on improving safe prescribing practices and QI metrics within an interdisciplinary team.  She also holds a Volunteer Associate Clinical Professor title at UCSF so that she can precept Family Nurse Practitioner students at the Family Health Center.  Anna is fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish and is proficient with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), eCW super-user, NextGen, and Epic.  We’re excited to have her join the growing AFED team and can’t wait to see the impact she will have on our program’s success!  Anna started today and can be reached at [email protected].  Please reach out and give her warm welcome to the Division!
