Welcome Dr. James Deardorff!
This week we are delighted to welcome Dr. James Deardorff to the UCSF Division of Geriatrics faculty. Dr. Deardorff completed his Geriatrics Medicine Fellowship in 2021, an Advanced Training in Clinical Research Certificate Program in 2022, and his T32 Aging Research Fellowship with our division in June 2023. He is joining our research scientist faculty and has been selected for a UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) KL2 Career Development Award and a UCSF Pepper Center REC Scholar Award. He also received an excellent score on his R03 grant for Early Medical/Surgical Specialists' Transition to Aging Research (GEMSSTAR) from the NIA. His research proposes to develop prediction models for various outcomes important to older adults following discharge from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility. He is additionally working on problematic medication use among community-dwelling older adults with dementia and was accepted into the US Deprescribing Research Network Junior Investigator Intensive Program to further develop his interests in deprescribing research. He will be an attending physician on the UCSF Geriatric Inpatient Services at UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus and the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) Short-Stay Rehabilitation Unit. He will also teach Geriatrics and Geriatrics Palliative Care Fellows, medical residents, and medical students who rotate through our clinical and research programs.
Welcome James!
