Welcome Jasmine Kang!

Please join us in welcoming Jasmine Kang, NCIRE Research Assistant III, to the Division of Geriatrics!

Jasmine started this morning and will be supporting Drs. Alex Smith and Sei Lee on their research studies focused on improving the health of older persons.  Jasmine earned her Masters Degree in Public Health from University of San Francisco (USF) and Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB).

In her most recent role as Food Insecurity Program Associate at San Francisco Department of Public Health, she supported program planning, operations, direct client support, coordinated research protocol, conducted program evaluation report and monitored data findings using quantitative and qualitative analysis. Jasmine made sure of quality control for the study’s integrity. Prior to this role, she was a Science Education Intern for Breast Cancer Prevention Partners. Jasmine conducted data collection, scientific research reviews and developing publications to specific audiences such as communities, legislators, policy makers and health care professionals. Jasmine was an Account Manager at a residential care facility for the elderly with dementia care, supporting patients in getting the proper treatment and living plans with the help of providers and families.

In her free time, Jasmine likes to volunteer and was involved in projects to raise awareness on tobacco use, sex education and food insecurity. Additionally, she developed hygiene packages for individuals facing hardship in Syria, plus, she created two public service announcements on the importance of hand washing during pandemic or flu season.

Jasmine has a wealth of experience in planning, leading, and executing projects/experiments, using statistical data analysis, analyzing large datasets, and presenting reports and findings.  We also love her previous experience working with older adults with dementia!  In her new role as RA III, she will work with her PIs on prognostic models, preventive treatments in nursing homes, and other projects related to health outcomes and treatments in older adults.  Brian Nguyen has graciously agreed to be Jasmine’s onboarding buddy and they’ll be sharing the same office at the VA as well (thank you Brian)!  Jasmine can be reached at [email protected] or 415-221-4810 x 26597 if you need to get a hold of her, OR just to welcome her to the team!  Yay! 😊 We are so excited she has joined our growing Division and cannot wait to meet her in person!
