Please join us in welcoming Katrina Hough, Clinical Research Coordinator, to the Division of Geriatrics!
Katrina started this morning and will be working with Drs. Ashwin Kotwal and Carla Perissinotto on their research studies related to older adults. Katrina earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology and a Bachelor of Arts in English from UC Irvine. Prior to coming to UCSF, Katrina worked for two years as a Research Assistant at the Stark Lab (no not the Marvel one😉) – at UCI. There, she administered memory studies to research participants, designed experiments based on implicit biases in relation to food and body image and support research data analyses. As a full-time student at UCI, Katrina was also an active member of the UCI Anteaters for Autism club, serving as the Events and Outreach Coordinator – successfully organizing and leading social and volunteer events. Katrina was also a Teaching Assistant for the Peninsula Bridge Program where she lectured and tutored young students from ages 8-11, as well as fostered and designed group activities for students to better enhance their reading comprehension. Last but not least, Katrina worked as a Human Resources Intern for SquareTrade – gaining important skillsets such as interviewing candidates, running references and coordinating the entire recruitment process. In her new role as CRC, Katrina will be joining Drs. Perissinotto and Kotwal’s team to support studies aimed at improving the care of older adults, such as these:
- Loneliness and Social Isolation among Older Adults in the Last Years of Life
- Developing an Intervention for Loneliness and Social Isolation among Older Adults with Cognitive Impairment
- Assessing the Impact of COVID-19 on Social Well-Being, Psychological Health, and Health Care use Among Older Adults
Katrina will be recruiting research subjects, obtaining medical and health information from participants and abstracting information from electronic clinical records, administering surveys, overseeing participant payments, as well as analyzing data using quantitative and qualitative methods. We are very excited for Katrina to join our team! Soe Han Tha (Research Data Analyst) will serve as her Onboarding Buddy. Katrina can be reached at [email protected] and 415-502-5634.
