Welcome Marian Weidner!

Please join us in welcoming Marian Weidner, JAMA-IM Editorial Coordinator to the Geriatrics Division!

Marian started on 7/3 and will be working closely with Dr. Ken Covinsky (Associate Editor) to manage the editorial office of the medical journal, JAMA Internal Medicine.  Marian earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Rural Sociology and a Master of Science degree in Environment Resources, both from University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Before joining our team, Marian gained substantial experience in various roles.  At the Public Library of Science (PLOS), she excelled as a Manager of Editorial Operations for PLOS Medicine.  She managed editorial operations within the publication and wrote and edited internal and external training materials for staff.  In her most recent role at UCSF, Marian served the same role as JAMA-IM Editorial Coordinator under Dr. Rita Redberg in Cardiology (JAMA-IM Editor in Chief) through 6/30.  Her role involved providing valuable guidance to editors on publication strategies, ethics-related matters, and editorial policies.  In addition, Marian is currently engaged as a freelance Science Writer and Editor.  Her writing and editorial skills enable her to craft engaging feature-length articles, research synopses, and compelling website copy for diverse clients.

In her new role in the Geriatrics Division from July through December 2023, Marian will continue to manage the daily operations of JAMA-IM, including manuscript/content submission and editorial and peer review processes.  We are excited that she has joined our Geriatrics family!  Marian’s role is completely remote.  She can be reached at [email protected].  Please send her your warmest welcome!
