Congratulations to Aiesha Volow on her promotion to Research Program Manager!
Please join us in congratulating Aiesha Volow on her promotion to Research Program Manager! Aiesha earned her Master of Public Health degree (with a concentration on Reproductive Health and Infectious Disease) from Tulane University, which is also where she completed her undergraduate education, earning a B.A. Aiesha also studied and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese! Prior to coming to UCSF, Aiesha was a Research Assistant at Tulane, worked in the Peace Corps for over four years, and was a Program Planner at Asian Health Services. As a Community Health HIV/AIDS Health Educator for the Peace Corps, Aiesha taught health and life skills lessons to youth, adults, and caregivers for orphaned and vulnerable children, wrote grants to fund impactful projects and collaborated with many local partners to evaluate achievement of community health project goals. While still at the Peace Corps, she was promoted to a Program Advisor for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program, where she coordinated and oversaw all aspects of the program from 2010 to 2012. At Asian Health Services, as a Program Planner, Aiesha wrote and packaged grant proposals, monitored grant progress and compliance, developed implementation and evaluation plans and designed compelling educational tools using health literacy principles specific for targeted audiences, such as patients.
As a Project Coordinator in Geriatrics, Aiesha worked closely with Dr. Rebecca Sudore and her team on expanding her research program in advance care planning among diverse, vulnerable populations. Aiesha quickly became acquainted with her new role and advanced to Lead Project Coordinator in 2017. As Lead, Aiesha managed multiple projects for Dr. Sudore across three institutions (UCSF/NCIRE/VA), as well as managed NCIRE Staff Research Associates’ workflow and staff development. Aiesha consistently exceeded expectations in her role and won the Department of Medicine STAR SPOT Award in 2019 for her outstanding achievements in staff mentorship, creation of a cross-institutional dataset, and tackling a very complicated Population Health-based clinical initiative at UCSF. As Dr. Sudore’s Research Program Manager, Aiesha will continue to work closely with Dr. Sudore and her team on project implementation, analyses, interpretation of data, and act as the main liaison between research, clinical and community collaborators and stakeholders and department administrators. Aiesha also manages Brookelle Li, and to be hired Program Assistant. Congratulations Aiesha!
