Bay Area Older Adult Community Resource of the Week – The Canon Kip Senior Center (CKSC)
This week’s Geri Community Resource is: The Canon Kip Senior Center (CKSC).
Serving those 60 years of age and older, as well as adults with disabilities, the Canon Kip Senior Center (CKSC) is the only older adults facility in San Francisco located in the South of Market Street (SOMA) district. In the South of Market Street (SOMA) neighborhood and beyond, Episcopal Community Services (ECS) has been offering services to older adults who are homeless or at risk. Seniors and individuals with disabilities who use the CKSC depend on it for socialization, health support, and a nutritious lunch, and they have restricted access to computers. In collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS), ECS, known as Episcopal Community Services, provides older adults and individuals with disabilities (those 18 years of age and over) with a daily hot meal, a weekly food pantry, and a daily drop-in center. Along with cultural festivities, exercise and movement workshops, bingo, karaoke, and other social events, the center also offers case management services and a computer lab.
