Haley Shiff is the new Division of Geriatrics Staff Engagement Ambassador for FY2023!

Please join us in congratulating Haley Shiff, Clinical Research Coordinator for Dr. Mike Steinman and Dr. Theresa Allison’s labs, who will serve as our new Division of Geriatrics Staff Engagement Ambassador for FY2023!

Haley joined our Division in October 2021 and has been supporting several projects led by her PIs including NIH-funded projects “US Deprescribing Research Network”, “Prescribing cascades in older adults with and without dementia” and “The Potential for Music to Improve Quality of Life in Dementia Caregiving Relationships”.  Prior to UCSF, Haley held research positions at Genentech, Inc., Hebrew SeniorLife, Brown University, Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as Stanford Center on Longevity.  Haley has a passion for improving the care of older adults, with a particular focus on health disparities and aging.

As Staff Engagement Ambassador, Haley will be partnering with Division Leadership to educate and inform our staff on the importance of engagement and self-care, as well as advocating for meaningful initiatives that support staff engagement.  It is an important role and (in Haley’s words), “a great way to get involved!”  As our Division of Geriatrics Staff Engagement Ambassador, Haley’s role impacts and supports all of our staff spanning across three institutions: UCSF, NCIRE and SFVAHCS.  Haley’s first act as Ambassador will be to co-host our Staff Meeting to review our 2022 Gallup Staff Engagement Survey results.  Her other important functions include: attending the Ambassador Summit, leading/co-leading staff engagement initiatives, receiving staff feedback and sharing with leadership, and actively participating in the overall critical mission of driving staff engagement!  We are grateful for Haley’s eagerness to get involved and make a real difference.  Thank you Haley!

(A quick shoutout to our former Staff Engagement Ambassadors: Caroline Sou Ziesmer, Sarah Ngo, and Sarah Bronstein.  Thank you for serving!)

Sincerely,
Louise C. Walter, MD (Professor & Chief)
