Introducing our new Staff Engagement Ambassador Mary Tran!

Please join me in welcoming Mary Tran to her new official ancillary role as our Division of Geriatrics Staff Engagement Ambassador for FY2023-FY2024!

Mary is our Administrative Coordinator who started last August.  Since joining our team seven months ago, Mary has coordinated and executed several successful Division events including the Holiday Party, Valentine’s Give Back Event, as well as the most recent Charcuterie & Chocolates Social (with Mingle Bingo).  Mary facilitates our Social Committee Meetings and is a thought leader in her own right – frequently contributing excellent ideas to help foster a more inclusive and fun work environment!  She is our main Division Events Coordinator, works closely with the core admin team to support a variety of administrative functions, and also works with several Principal Investigators (PIs) on research projects and clinical programs – including Dr. Rebecca Sudore (PREPARE), Dr. Louise Aronson (CDSS), and Dr. Candace Kim & Dr. Michi Yukawa (Mt Zion Health Fund).

As Staff Engagement Ambassador, Mary will be partnering with Division Leadership to educate and inform our staff on the importance of engagement and self-care, as well as advocating for meaningful initiatives that support staff engagement.  Mary has already successfully led the submission of a grant proposal for a Division “Wellness Basket-Wellness Afternoon”!  As our Division of Geriatrics Staff Engagement Ambassador, Mary’s role impacts and supports all of our staff spanning across three institutions: UCSF, NCIRE and SFVAHCS.  Mary’s first act as Ambassador will be to remind our staff to complete the upcoming Staff Engagement Survey.  Her other important functions include attending the Ambassador Summit, leading/co-leading staff engagement initiatives, receiving staff feedback and sharing with leadership, and actively participating in the overall critical mission of driving staff engagement!  We are more than thrilled to make this official announcement and would also like to thank Haley Shiff (Clinical Research Coordinator) who served as Mary’s predecessor in this role.  Haley has been accepted to medical school and will be leaving us in May!  Congratulations Haley and thank you Mary!
