Janice Schwartz Spoke at NIA Workshop

Janice Schwartz, MD was a speaker at a NIA Workshop on August 21-22 entitled: "Repurposing Drugs or Dietary Supplements for their Senolytic or Senomorphic effects:  Considerations for clinical trials".  Dr. Schwartz's talk was entitled: "Potential drug-drug interactions among senolytics/senomorphics in older patients". The meeting examined in vitro data on potential senolytics and senomorphics, potential biomarkers of senescence,  as well as initial trials in older adults using rapamycin, navitoclax, and dasatinib and the combination of dasatinib and quercetin.  Dr. Schwartz’s role was to review the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of potential senoylytic/senomorphic agents and identify potential drug-drug interactions with medications and over the counter products consumed by older adults in order to develop exclusion criteria and safety monitoring for future trials.
