Lauren Hunt and Team Publish Article in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management

Jarmin Yeh, PhD, Lauren Hunt, PhD, RN, FNP, Jeff Newman, MD, and Rachel Main from the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California and Nevada published an article entitled “Improving end-of-life care for persons living with dementia: Bereaved caregivers' observations and recommendations” in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management. This exploratory study sought to assess satisfaction with and elicit recommendations for improving end-of-life care experiences of decedents with dementia from the perspective of bereaved caregivers in the Bay Area. Findings showed that there is still significant room for improving end-of-life care for persons with dementia and their caregivers and that gaps persist regarding communication from providers about disease progression, care continuity and coordination, and honoring death in a preferred location.
