Mike Steinman Awarded NIH Mid-Career Investigator Award
Congratulations to Dr. Mike Steinman who was recently awarded the NIH Mid-Career Investigator Award in Patient-Oriented Research (K24) in the competitive renewal! The project aims to use national VA data to evaluate the prevalence and outcomes of prescribing cascades in older adults. Prescribing cascades occur when the side effects of one medication are treated with another medication, often leading to long chains of unnecessary medications and extensive morbidity. For the mentoring component of this award, Dr. Mike Steinman will continue and expand his mentorship activities, both for individual junior investigators and through expanding his role and experience in mentoring-focused research programs.
