Tideswell's Criminal Justice Aging Project Delivered Geriatric Medicine Training at CA Institute for Women

Tideswell’s Criminal Justice Aging Project (with Cyrus Ahalt, MPP and Drs. Leah Rorvig, Michele DiTomas, Alison Pachynski, and Sanchala Sehgal, BA) delivered a 1-day training on 10/11/18 to clinicians and front line correctional staff at the California Institution for Women, a women’s prison located in Chino, California. Topics in the training “Preparing for Serious Illness and Population Aging in the Correctional Setting” included Advance Care Planning, Assessing Decision Making Capacity, Prognostication, Diagnosing and Managing Cognitive Impairment and Dementia. More than 20 nurses and doctors attended the training.
