UCSF Pepper Center Team Wins 3rd Place in VHA and FDA COVID-19 Risk Factor Modeling Challenge
A team of our Division statisticians comprising Bocheng Jing, Siqi Gan, Sun Young Jeon, MS, PhD and Sei Lee, MD, MAS, John Boscardin, PhD, and Sarah Ngo, MLIS, CCRP won 3rd place in a Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Innovation Ecosystem and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) COVID-19 Risk Factor Modeling Challenge, out of more than 20 contestants. The goal was to use a synthetic data set developed at request of Precision FDA to predict COVID-status, COVID-mortality and COVID-morbidity outcomes in an electronic health record setting. The top winners in the competition will now be invited to apply their methods to actual VA data.
