Welcome Ashley Johnson!

Please join us in welcoming Ashley Renee Johnson, DNP, MSN, AGPCNP-C, RN, CCRN to the UCSF Geriatrics team!!

Ashley started this past Tuesday morning and will be joining the growing Dementia Care Aware team as their new Advance Practice Practitioner/Nurse Practitioner II for the San Francisco Health Network!  Ashley graduated from UCSF with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, as well as a Master of Science degree in Nursing (Specialty: Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner).  She is a California Registered Nurse and also certified by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.  Ashley has been working at UCSF Health (Parnassus Campus) as an RN since 2014 in the Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit.  In her most recent role, she provided extensive treatment measures to critically ill pre- and post-operative patients and those with chronic medical conditions and assisted residents and attending physicians with central line placement, respiratory intubation, and other emergent procedures.  Prior to her most recent UCSF role, Ashley was a Travel Nurse at various ICUs in California and Texas for a year and was an RN at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Ashley has also been a Clinical Preceptor for the UCSF Health Medical/Surgical ICU nursing staff and student learners since 2017.  Last but not least, Ashley has many presentations, publications and awards (too many to list, so I’ll just name one!)  She received the 9/13 Medical/Surgical ICU UCSF Health Pride Experience Award in 2020.  😊

In her new role as APP/NP for Dementia Care Aware, Ashley will work closely with the leadership team and their DCA clinical team to support primary care clinics within the San Francisco Health Network (SFHN) to implement the DCA program and create dementia-friendly care in the network.  Ashley will lead a small team of clinical social workers/specialists and administrative staff to perform cognitive assessments, order diagnostic testing and place referrals, as well as determine and initiate care plans for patients with cognitive impairment.  We’re very excited to onboard Ashley onto the growing DCA team!  She brings a wealth of amazing and valuable experience for her new role.  She can be reached at [email protected] (phone line being ordered).  Ashley will be stationed at her Mission Bay cubicle on Tuesdays (when the DCA team is usually in).  Please come find and welcome her to the team if you’re around!  Welcome Ashley!
