Welcome Landon Haller!

Please join us in welcoming Landon Haller, Research Programs Coordinator to the Division!

Landon started this morning and will be supporting the Pepper Center, Dr. Kenneth Lam’s research, as well as other Geriatrics-focused studies!  Landon most recently worked for the UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine as a Clinical Research Coordinator on the Stopping Elderly Accidents Deaths and Injuries (STEADI) study led by Dr. Andrew Auerbach.  This is a clinical study that would evaluate the effectiveness of a provider decision support program by using patient reported metrics and medical record scans.  In a little over a year, Landon successfully enrolled of over 520 participants through in-person visits, telephone outreach and email.  He also liaised with representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for study progress monitoring, data analysis, and quality improvement.  Landon was also a Patient Advocacy Research Intern for the UCSF Patient Support Corps (PSC) from 2018 to 2020.  In that role, he helped patients develop and organize a list of questions for their medical providers, accompanied patients to their appointments to make recordings and scribe the advice given to them, as well as tested the helpfulness of scribing and question-listing services for patients consulting with surgical and oncology specialists.  Concurrently, Landon was also a Student Intern for the City of Berkeley Department of Environmental Health, and a Patient Coach for the UCSF Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program (DOD).  Landon graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Environmental Biology and aspires to remain in the medical field as a provider in the future!

In his new role, Landon will be reporting to Sarah Ngo (Research Programs Manager) and working with Drs. Ken Covinsky and Kenny Lam to support qualitative and quantitative research studies focused on improving the quality of care for older adults.  His Onboarding Buddy will be Brookelle Li, who has graciously volunteered to help welcome Landon to the team!  Landon can be reached at [email protected].  Please join us in welcoming Landon to our ever-growing Division!
