Please join us in welcoming Luisa Alejandra (Ale) Tello-Pérez, Program Manager for Dementia Care Aware (DCA), to the Division!

Ale started her new role yesterday and will be working closely with the DCA team to help steer this next phase of the program.  Ale has a Master of Global Policy Studies with specialization in international development and data analysis, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.  Ale brings an extensive background in managing complex research programs, engaging with diverse stakeholders, and driving program operations, making her a perfect fit for her role.  Prior to joining the Division of Geriatrics, Ale was a Program Manager for the Beyond the Pill Program at the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health at UCSF.  Ale’s remarkable achievements with UCSF’s Beyond the Pill Program, where she coordinated multi-site operations, developed innovative recruitment strategies, and led advisory board meetings, demonstrate her exceptional leadership and problem-solving abilities.  Her contributions to promoting health equity through campus-wide educational sessions and the establishment of a Youth Advisory Board reflect her commitment to fostering inclusive and respectful care for all populations.  Additionally, Ale’s previous experience with Project SANA at the University of Texas at Austin further highlights her capability to manage large-scale research projects, build collaborative partnerships, and effectively communicate complex research findings.  The breadth of her work, from co-authoring publications in high-impact journals to contributing to U.S. Supreme Court amicus briefs, showcases her dedication to advancing knowledge and policy in reproductive health.

We are confident that Ale’s strategic leadership abilities, operational excellence, and innovative problem-solving skills will be invaluable to the success of the Dementia Care Aware initiative.  Her cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging will undoubtedly enhance our efforts to improve dementia screening and care across California.  Ale will be stationed at Mission Bay, cubicle #8116 and can be reached at [email protected].  Please join us in welcoming Ale to our team.  We look forward to the positive impact she will bring to our Division, and especially to the DCA program!
