Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the UCSF Division of Geriatrics
This year the UCSF Division of Geriatrics is celebrating our 25th Anniversary. The Division began back in 1997 when Dr. Seth Landefeld was recruited to establish a Geriatrics Division at UCSF. The Division began with two faculty, Drs. Seth Landefeld and Bree Johnston. Dr. Louise Aronson was the first Geriatrics Fellow in 1997, followed by the first class of Geriatrics Fellows in 1998 (Drs. Bill Lyons, Steve Bonasera, Martha Terry and Louise Walter) and Dr. Ken Covinsky was the 3rd faculty member, joining the Division in 1998. Over the past 25 years the UCSF Division of Geriatrics has grown from 2 faculty to 120 faculty members, fellows, and staff across all campuses (Mission Bay, Parnassus, SFVA, ZSFG). We remain committed and focused on our work to optimize aging and improve the well-being of older adults through outstanding clinical care, education, and research.
