Drs. Lee, Lee, Covinsky, Boscardin Awarded NIH Pepper P30 Supplement Award

Congratulations to Drs. Alex Lee, Sei Lee, Ken Covinsky, and John Boscardin, who were recently awarded the NIH Pepper P30 Supplement Award, entitled “Disruptive Behaviors in Nursing Home residents with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) and Diabetes Mellitus”. The project aims to determine the frequency and types of disruptive behaviors including 1) physical behaviors, 2) verbal behaviors and 3) resistance to care among nursing home (NH) residents with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) and diabetes. Dr. Lee and her team will also determine which aspects of diabetes management (such as fingerstick glucose monitoring or insulin injections) or diabetes itself (such as hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia) as associated with these disruptive behaviors.
