Janice Schwartz published report in JACC Journals
Janice Schwartz, MD and UCLA Colleague Mimi Tarn, MD, PhD published reports of a survey conducted in patients with atrial fibrillation to determine reasons for not taking their prescribed anticoagulant (apixaban) to prevent stroke. While forgetfulness contributed to nonadherence, those with worse adherence were more likely to believe apixaban was not needed, attributed non-adherence to medication cost and fear of severe bleeding. Strikingly, almost one-half of all patients did not disclose nonadherence to their providers. For more see here.
