Rebecca Sudore and UW Colleagues to Lead PCORI-Funded Advance Care Planning Study

We are pleased to announce that UCSF and UW researchers will co-lead a new study comparing approaches to improve advance care planning, which has been approved for funding by PCORIDr. Rebecca Sudore, in the Division of Geriatrics at UCSF, and her colleague Dr. Erin Kross, in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at UW, will serve as co-PIs on the pragmatic, comparative effectiveness trial, which will assess the synergistic effects of the UCSF PREPARE for Your Care program, designed to help patients engage in advance care planning (ACP), and the UW Jumpstart program designed to help clinicians start ACP conversations. “This research project was selected for PCORI funding not only for its scientific merit and commitment to engaging patients and other health care stakeholders, but also for its conduct in real-world settings," said PCORI Executive Director Nakela L. Cook, M.D., MPH.
