Welcome Raha Shahroodi!

Please join us in welcoming Raha Shahroodi, Program Manager, to the Division of Geriatrics!

Raha started this morning at NCIRE, and will be supporting Drs. Michael Steinman (UCSF) and Cynthia Boyd (Johns Hopkins) as the new Program Manager for the U.S. Deprescribing Research Network!  Raha has a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science from CSU Los Angeles and is currently enrolled in a Master of Public Health program at USF.  Mostly recently, Raha worked as an Account Manager for Healthcare Services Group, Inc., one of the largest providers of environmental, dining, and nutritional services.  Through that role, Raha gained experience in gathering and assessing data on existing service strategies and created new ways to fill in discrepancies.  One of her major achievements during her tenure included the reduction of payroll administration costs by 30% through negotiating pricing and scheduling hours, while ensuring the continuation and enhancements of services.  Raha describes herself as a perpetually-inspired, highly-organized and ambitious individual with several years of experience in the healthcare management and analyst industry.  She also has extensive knowledge of state and federal health regulation codes as well as statistical software  including Stata, SAS and Python.  Last but not least, Raha is fluent in Spanish and Farsi and have gained a wealth of community outreach experience volunteering for Moonland Produce, Project Angel Food and LINC Housing in Southern California.

In her new role, Raha will oversee the day-to-day operations of the network, including facilitating interactions with core leaders and collaborative efforts among them, assisting with and tracking multiple ongoing research and educational projects, supporting the Principal Investigators with strategic and budgetary planning, as well as recruiting and supervising network staff.  Raha will be sharing an office with Sarah Ngo at the VA, who also has agreed to be Raha’s Onboarding Buddy (thank you Sarah)!  We’re so thrilled to have Raha onboard and a part of this important network focused on expanding the quality and quantity of research on deprescribing (removing unnecessary and/or harmful medications) for older adults.  Raha’s emails are: [email protected] and [email protected].  Please join us in welcoming Raha to the Division!
