Congratulations to Sarah Ngo, MLIS, on her promotion to Data Infrastructure Specialist!
Please join me in congratulating Sarah Ngo, MLIS on her promotion to Data Infrastructure Specialist!
Sarah joined UCSF in 2015 as a Practice Assistant for the UCSF Health Pain Management Center. In 2016, we were lucky enough to have hired her as a Clinical Research Coordinator supporting several Principal Investigators on various research studies in the Division of Geriatrics. Sarah was promoted to Senior Clinical Research Coordinator in 2018, Program Manager in 2019, and then again to Research Programs Specialist in 2020. Sarah “grew up” in the Division and has become a “jack of all trades” over the years! Sarah has expertise in project management, research workflows, database design and management, Python programming, staff management, clinical data modeling, quality improvement and more!
Since 2022, Sarah has been serving the role of Special Projects Manager for various teams within Geriatrics – including the Age-Friendly Health System program, Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program, Dementia Care Aware, and most recently, the Music & Dementia Research Lab. As Special Projects Manager, Sarah collaborated with clinicians, faculty investigators, and program analysts to design databases that support clinical and program goals. She wrote complex SQL queries and abstracted EHR data to implement reporting systems that optimized patient care and clinical operations. For research and educational programs, Sarah designed databases unique to the program’s mission and goals to enable streamlined data collection to be embedded into workflows and provided accurate reporting to sponsors and stakeholders. Sarah’s expertise and contributions has been instrumental in the successes of many of our programs. Sarah has also been working with Dr. Krista Harrison on building and refining her faculty webpage.
In her new role as Data Infrastructure Specialist, Sarah will continue to support various data infrastructure projects and initiatives across multiple teams. As a knowledge expert, she will support and maintain established data warehouse platforms, create new data infrastructure and workflows, manage data integration from various sources, as well as oversee privacy and security controls to protect sensitive data and comply with relevant UCSF policy and regulations. She will also serve as our Division’s AI Champion to support the development of our AI climate, develop new tools and resources to share with other members of the team, provide training and support and participate in workgroups and committees representing the Division.
We are excited to welcome Sarah to her new role! Sarah reports to the VA Office once a week – you may find her in Room 210/Sunshine Room (with the Music & Dementia Research Lab). Congratulations Sarah!
