Lauren Hunt and Research Team Publish Article in the Journal of Pain Symptom Management

Dr. Lauren Hunt - Assistant Professor in the UCSF School of Nursing, along with Drs. Krista Harrison, Sarah Garrett, Rebecca Sudore, Christine Ritchie, and former MSTAR student/current Brown medical student Gabrielle Dressler published a paper in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management entitled "'Goals of Care Conversations Don't Fit in a Box': Hospice Staff Experiences and Perceptions of Advance Care Planning Quality Measurement". Participating hospice staff opinions of recently implemented federally mandated requirements for ACP quality measurement highlighted numerous downsides, unintended consequences, and few upsides. Participants recommended improvements included personalizing ACP quality measures, elevating the importance of quality measurement, and streamlining processes.
