Welcome Nilson Palma!

Please join us in welcoming Nilson Palma, MPH to the UCSF Division of Geriatrics!

Nilson started this week and will support the Cognitive Health Assessment Metrics Post-Positive Screen (CHAMPPS) project as the new Data Analyst!

Nilson joins us with a strong background in public health, research, and data analysis. He recently earned his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from UC Berkeley and brings valuable experience working within UCSF Health, where he supported multidisciplinary projects, analyzed qualitative and quantitative data, and developed tracking databases and dashboards to support teams across multiple departments.

Nilson brings experience with APeX (Epic), REDCap, Smartsheet, SAS, R, Python, and Excel, along with a strong interest in using data to improve health outcomes and advance health equity. He is especially passionate about the role of screening and early detection in improving patient outcomes, and he has a longstanding interest in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia research.

In his new role as CHAMPPS Data Analyst, Nilson will work closely with Dr. Anna Chodos and the Dementia Care Awareness (DCA) team, focusing on data collection, organization, management, and reporting. His combination of analytical skills, familiarity with UCSF, and commitment to equitable public health makes him a wonderful addition to the CHAMPPS team.

Nilson will be based at the Mission Bay Office, cubicle # 8122, and can be reached at [email protected] . A special shout-out to Ale Tello, DCA Program Manager, for serving as Nilson’s Onboarding Buddy! We’re excited to have Nilson join us and look forward to the experience, curiosity, and collaborative spirit he’ll bring to the team. Welcome, Nilson!
