Michi Yukawa and Jacklyn Katz Lead Inaugural Southwest Regional SGIM Conference on Climate Advocacy
The inaugural Southwest Regional SGIM meeting took place on January 25th, 2025 at UC Law. Previously known as the California-Hawaii Regional SGIM, the event welcomed 150 attendees from California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Arizona. Michi Yukawa, MD served as co-chair of the planning committee, while Jacklyn Katz, MD and former fellow and faculty member Lindsey Haddock, MD co-chaired the Mentoring session. The conference theme, Climate Advocacy: Turning Passion into Action, highlighted the critical intersection of health and climate. Gina Solomon, MD, MPH, Chief of the Division of Occupational, Environmental, and Climate Medicine at UCSF, delivered the keynote address on climate change and its adverse health consequences following natural disasters.
