The UCSF Division of Geriatrics is featured prominently in the 1-hour documentary called "Aging in America: Survive or Thrive" which will be airing in the Bay Area on KQED on May 18th at 6pm. Here is a link to the website to find specific dates/times when it will be airing across the country: aginginamericasurviveorthrive.com. Also, if you are attending the American Geriatrics Society Meeting in Chicago the documentary will be shown at AGS on Friday May 9th at 8pm (Room TBD). The documentary is focused on Robert Butler, who was the first director of the National Institute on Aging and coined the term ageism. Narrated by Martin Sheen, the documentary shows the incredible legacy of Robert Butler and how he would be so proud of the innovative Geriatrics programs at UCSF that are helping older people thrive. UCSF is featured about 20 minutes into the documentary, including Tamika Bailey, MD when she was a fellow in our Care at Home Program, our colleagues in the UCSF Age-Friendly Emergency Department as well as Louise Walter, MD and Chris Cassel, MD providing commentary. The film is quite moving, so everyone is encouraged to watch it.
