Welcome Ammar Bhaiji, Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator, to the Division of Geriatrics!

Please join us in welcoming Ammar Bhaiji, Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator, to the Division!

Ammar started this morning and will be supporting the Hospice Equity for people impacted by Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias (HEARD) study led by Dr. Krista Harrison.  Ammar earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley.

In his recent role as Redwoods Analyst at DaVita, he used Smartsheet to ensure thousands of patients were assigned to the correct health insurance. He also helped examine current processes with key stakeholders to suggest efficiencies and improvements.  Prior to this role, Ammar was a Triage Volunteer and Insurance Clinic Founder at the Ashland Free Medical Clinic. He was responsible for scheduling appointments, and he would complete patient intake workflow. This experience honed his interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including older adults.

Ammar is passionate about improving healthcare access for underserved communities. In his research experience as a research assistant with the Whole Person Care Program Evaluation Team and the Rural Behavioral Health Systems Evaluation Team, he demonstrated a strong interest in health policy and research related to underserved populations.

Ammar has a wealth of experience in working with patients. Also, he has a lot of valuable skills in data analysis, project management, and communication. As Assistant CRC for the HEARD study, Ammar will be responsible for study coordination, data collection, management, quality control, and supporting all research protocols and regulatory responsibilities.  Ammar will report directly to Shira Rutman (Project Director) and will be based at Mission Bay.  He can also be reached at [email protected]. We are so excited that he has joined our growing Division.  Please help us welcome him to the team!  😊
