Welcome Qiao Kuang!
Please join us in welcoming Qiao Kuang to the Division!
Qiao, Research Analyst, started this morning onboarding remotely. Her role will namely support three Geriatrics studies:
- The ACE Unit National Database, a project which involves identifying national institutions with ACE units and gathering key contact information to survey these institutions.
- The Bradley AGE SELF CARE project, which aims to better address the needs of middle-income older adults by educating and empowering them in ways that delay caregiving needs and allow them to live full, independent lives in their communities.
- And the UCSF Brain Health Assessment project, with primary goals to optimize and validate the UCSF Brain Health Assessment for older adults who are diverse in terms of education and language spoken, to perform cross-validation studies of other paradigms funded by this award, and to evaluate and address barriers to detecting cognitive impairment in primary care.
Qiao has a Master of Public Health degree in Community Health Education from SF State, and earned her B.S. in Public Health (Epidemiology & Biostatistics track) and Marine Biology from UC San Diego. Her most recent work experience involves working as a Data Evaluation Specialist for the Alameda County Department of Public Health and a Program Communications and Strategy Specialist for the Metro College Success Program. She was also a Clinical Research Assistant and Operations Assistant for the Center for AIDS Research at UCSD between 2015-2017, so she already has experience working in UC systems. Through her years of work experience, Qiao has honed the following relevant skills: ability to independently design and conduct research, conduct data management, analysis, and reporting, and provide recommendations, advance proficiency using statistical software applications: JMP 11, SPSS and STATA, as well as strong management and coordination skills through self-initiated programs, just to name a few. Lastly, Qiao is multilingual (able to read, write, and speak fluently) in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Toi Shan. Perhaps that will come in handy for her some of the studies she’ll work on! Qiao will work closely with and report directly to Dr. Stephanie Rogers, as well as work with Dr. Louise Aronson and the Bradley team, and last but not least, Dr. Pei Chen and the BHA team. For now, while we’re waiting for UCPath conversion, Qiao can be reached at the “geritemp” account: email - [email protected]. She will get her UCSF email after 6/1 and a desk phone when we return to Laurel Heights. She’ll be stationed next to Karen Yuan in Suite 380. Please join us in welcoming Qiao to the team!!
