Welcome Snigdha Banda!
Please join us in welcoming Snigdha Banda, Clinical Research Coordinator, to the Division!
Snigdha started on Monday, 11/16/2020 and will be supporting Drs. Carla Perissinotto and Ashwin Kotwal in their research studies. Snigdha earned her BA from Rice University with a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Poverty, Justice, Human Capabilities. Prior to coming to UCSF, Snigdha worked for two years as a Research Associate at the Baylor College of Medicine, where she investigated the effect of attention state on priming of motor behaviors, designed two psychophysical paradigms; programmed & troubleshooted experiments via MATLAB, and mentored undergraduates in research design & programming. She was also a Medical Assistant at the Houston Methodist Hospital Hematology Department, where she assisted the Department with Epic EMR entry, monitoring, scheduling, CTMS & REDCap clinical trial data entry & database management; recruitment, screening & consenting of patients. In the summer of 2019, she also worked as a Policy Fellow for the USAID Bureau of Global Health where she performed qualitative research on beneficiary outcomes for $12mil project to accelerate HPV screening in Malawi, authored briefs & media articles and created social media content for FB/Insta/Twitter. Last but not least, she founded a student-led & physician-supported effort to produce a data-based policy report on maternal health and served as the Chief Editor for the initiative, and she was the Co-President of Alzheimer’s Buddies at Rice University between 2017 and 2020. Snigdha will be joining Drs. Perissinotto and Kotwal’s team to support studies aimed at improving the care of older adults, such as these:
- Evaluating the Use of GrandPad for Assessing Behavioral Symptoms in Dementia
- Assessing the Impact of COVID-19 on Social Well-Being, Psychological Health, and Health Care use Among Older Adults
- Developing an Intervention for Loneliness and Social Isolation among Older Adults with Cognitive Impairment
- Loneliness and Social Isolation in Older Adults: Past, Present and Future- A path forward
