Lab Overview:

Millions of older adults and caregivers face complex medical decisions, yet most are unprepared. Dr. Rebecca Sudore and her PREPARE lab team are passionate about empowering patients and caregivers to have a voice in their healthcare. The PREPARE lab’s research focuses on creating innovative, tangible, person-centered tools to address literacy, language, and cultural barriers to care planning, communication, and medical decision making. The lab has developed widely accessible resources, including easy-to-read advance directives available in US states in multiple languages and the interactive online platform PREPARE for Your Care. This program is designed to guide patients and caregivers, step-by-step, through advance care planning and complex medical decision making. Her lab includes a portfolio of National Institutes of Health, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and foundation funding.
