Inpatient Geriatrics Consultation

About Us

The inpatient consultation program is available to patients of any age with multiple complex medical problems, cognitive or functional frailty, and/or high health care utilization.  The inpatient consultation program can provide expert assistance in common geriatric problems such as: delirium prevention or treatment, dementia with behavioral changes, and polypharmacy.  The team may also address geriatric and care goals before procedures or treatments, cognitive or capacity assessments, and address falls or feeding difficulties. The team may help determine safety and feasibility of a home discharge plan, and recommend appropriate referrals and resources for outpatient geriatrics clinical programs.

The primary hospital team places an inpatient geriatrics consultation order.
